Job description: Hire Resolve is seeking a highly skilled Shipping Manager on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturer, to oversee all import transactions. This pivotal role is responsible for managing the efficient, timely, and cost-effective movement of goods into the company. The ideal candidate will take charge of the entire import process, coordinating with international suppliers, managing logistics, and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.

- Oversee all import transactions to ensure the efficient, timely, and cost-effective movement of goods.
- Coordinate with international suppliers and logistics providers to manage shipments and ensure on-time delivery.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, trade laws, and international standards.
- Negotiate shipping rates and contracts with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners.
- Track and monitor shipments, addressing delays or issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate import records and manage shipping documentation, including bills of lading and customs declarations.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including procurement, sales, and production, to align shipping activities with business objectives.
- Optimize transportation methods and routes to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
- Resolve shipment-related issues, including delays, damages, and non-compliance.
- Develop and implement shipping policies and procedures to streamline import operations.
- Analyze import costs and implement strategies to reduce expenses and improve cost efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other key stakeholders.
- Continuously assess and improve shipping and import processes to enhance performance and minimize risks.
Requirements
- Tertiary Qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or supply chain management.
- Specific experience in managing import transactions and international shipping.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software and shipment tracking systems.
- In-depth understanding of customs regulations and international trade compliance.
- Fluent in English (Afrikaans is beneficial).
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Willingness to stay updated on global shipping and trade regulations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
