Job description: An established, but rapidly expanding transport and logistics business based in Bellville, Cape Town is seeking to employ a Logistics & Transport Operations Expeditor on a permanent basis.The Operations Expeditor which operates as a Junior Controller in the business plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth flow of operations within the organization by expediting processes, coordinating tasks, and facilitating communication between various departments. This position requires a proactive individual with strong multitasking abilities and excellent communication skills.Responsibilities * Coordinate Operations: Act as a liaison between clients and suppliers to ensure vehicles are on track and clients are informed.
- Monitor Processes: Track the progress of various vehicles and identify potential bottlenecks or delays. Take proactive measures to address issues and keep operations on schedule.
- Prioritize Tasks: Assess the urgency and importance of tasks and prioritize them accordingly to optimize efficiency.
- Communicate Effectively: Facilitate communication between clients and suppliers to ensure clarity of instructions, exchange of information, and resolution of issues.
- Resolve Issues: Quickly address any discrepancies, conflicts, or issues that may arise during operations to minimize disruptions and maintain productivity.
- Streamline Procedures: Identify opportunities for process improvement and suggest solutions to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of operations, transactions, and communications to ensure accountability and facilitate analysis.
- Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, requirements, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment and be willing to work shifts and also night shift.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality of work and ensure that all operations meet the organization’s standards and requirements.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to achieve common goals and objectives.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification (Certificate, Diploma or Degree) in Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in operations, logistics, or supply chain management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Problem-solving skills with a proactive and resourceful mindset.
- Attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with project management tools and techniques is a plus.
