Job description: An established, but rapidly expanding transport and logistics business based in Bellville, Cape Town is seeking to employ a Logistics Controller on a permanent basis. You will play a crucial role in facilitating the transportation of goods within their logistics and supply chain operations. Your attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to multitask will be essential to ensuring the efficient flow of our operations.In this role, you will collaborate with various teams to coordinate and monitor all aspects of logistics operations, including transportation, inventory management, and customs compliance. You will also be responsible for tracking shipments, managing inventory levels, and resolving any transportation issues that may arise. Additionally, you will work closely with vendors, carriers, and other stakeholders to optimize logistical processes and drive cost savings.To succeed in this role, you should have a deep understanding of logistics and supply chain principles, as well as experience in coordinating logistics activities. - Coordinate and monitor transportation activities to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Track shipments and provide updates to relevant parties, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
- Collaborate with suppliers, carriers, and other logistics partners to optimize transportation processes and resolve issues.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and customs requirements.
- Monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics and implement improvements as needed.
- Prepare and present reports on logistics operations to management.
- Address and resolve issues such as delays, damages, or discrepancies promptly and efficiently.
- Identify and engage transportation and logistics service providers to fulfil client requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their transportation and logistics needs.
Requirements
- Formal qualification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Diploma or Degree preferred, but not essential.
- Proven work experience in logistics coordination or a similar role.
- In-depth understanding of logistics and supply chain principles.
- Strong organizational skills & problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in utilizing Transportation Management System (TMS) platforms.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Salary: R25,000 – R35,000 / month basic salary, dependant on skills and experience.HOW TO APPLY
