Job description: Our client in the Food Production industry is currently looking for a Logistics Assistant, in Sundays Rivers Vally, Eastern Cape.Responsibilities:
- Shipment Coordination:
- Assist in planning and scheduling shipments of fresh produce, both domestically and internationally.
- Ensure accurate documentation for shipments, including invoices, packing lists, and compliance certificates.
- Track and monitor shipment progress, addressing any delays or issues proactively.
- Inventory and Stock Management:
- Support inventory control processes to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Ensure all products are correctly labelled and recorded during dispatch and delivery.
- Collaborate with the warehouse team to monitor loading, storage, and unloading operations.
- Administrative Support:
- Maintain and update logistics records, databases, and reports.
- Handle communication with suppliers, transport companies, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare purchase orders and track approvals as required.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure logistics processes comply with health, safety, and quality standards.
- Coordinate inspections of goods to meet client specifications.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Serve as a liaison between the logistics team, warehouse, and sales department.
- Provide timely updates to internal and external stakeholders on shipment statuses.
- Assist in resolving customer queries and concerns related to deliveries.
- Cost Management and Optimization:
- Assist in analysing logistics costs and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Coordinate with suppliers and service providers to negotiate favourable terms where applicable.
Requirements:
- A Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain operations, preferably in the agricultural or fresh produce industry.
- Familiarity with customs clearance procedures and regulatory compliance for perishable goods
- Understanding of transportation modes of imports and exports.
- Knowledge of ERP or logistics management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) is advantageous.
Remuneration:
- Up to R325 000 per annum.
Expected salary: R325000 per year
