The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 -5 years’ experience.The Clearing and Forwarding Agent is responsible for managing the movement of goods across air, sea, and land freight channels, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and client requirements. This role requires specialized expertise in customs procedures and regional freight coordination within South Africa and the SADC region. The position demands excellent administration and coordination, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of import/export processes to ensure seamless delivery.You will be responsible for but not limited to:Freight CoordinationPlan and manage the movement of freight across air, sea, and land routes, ensuring timely and cost-effective deliveryCoordinate with carriers, shipping lines, airlines, and customs authorities to manage import and export shipmentsOptimize routing and schedule planning for regional and international shipmentsCustoms Compliance and DocumentationOversee customs processes for import and export freight across air, sea, and land.Prepare and manage accurate documentation required for customs clearance, including declarations and permitsEnsure compliance with South African and SADC regional customs regulations, including tax, duty, and trade agreementsLiaise with customs officials and brokers to address and resolve clearance issues promptlyRegional Freight ManagementCoordinate and manage cross-border freight movement within South Africa and the SADC regionStay updated on SADC trade agreements, tariffs, and documentation requirements for seamless regional operations.Establish relationships with regional transport providers to enhance operational efficiencyClient Communication and Problem-SolvingAct as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates on shipment statuses and resolving issuesAddress delays, changes, or complications in shipment schedules with prompt and effective solutionsProvide accurate quotes for import/export shipments and regional freight servicesSystem ManagementUtilize forwarding and clearing software to manage documentation, tracking, and reportingMonitor the track-and-trace system to provide clients with real-time shipment updatesTeam CollaborationCollaborate with internal departments, including operations, finance, and customer service, to ensure smooth workflowShare insights and feedback on operational improvements and regional freight challengesRequirementsMatricRelevant certifications in supply chain management or logistics (e.g., FIATA Diploma, CILT qualifications)Proven experience in freight coordination, including air, sea, and land freight for imports and exportsHands-on experience in customs procedures, including documentation and compliance for South Africa and the SADC regionIn-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and maritime/air/land freight safety standardsProficiency in forwarding and clearing software processesSkills:Strong organizational and prioritization skills for managing multiple shipments across various freight channelsEffective communication and interpersonal skills for client and stakeholder managementProblem-solving ability to navigate challenges under pressureHigh attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and processesFamiliarity with South African and SADC regional trade dynamics and regulatory environmentsA strong customer service orientation to build and maintain client relationshipsTeam player mentality with the ability to work collaboratively and independentlyFlexibility to adapt to a dynamic work environment and industry demandsPotential to assist on vessel agency compliancesPlease apply with your most recent resume & supporting documents.Please note should you not receive a response from us within 7 working days; kindly consider your application unsuccessful.
