Job Summary:
AtripleA Recruitment & Temps is actively searching for an experienced Fibre Team Leader & Supervisor to join our team in Mpumalanga and Limpopo. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of fibre optic infrastructure. Your knowledge and hands-on experience will ensure the smooth functioning of our fibre optic systems, contributing to efficient, high-quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Hands-On Work:
- Be an effective on-site supervisor overseeing the entire fibre optic project lifecycle.
- Engage in the removal, installation, and management of multi-cable transits.
- Installation and Splicing:
- Perform precise fibre optic splicing and cable installation.
- Rehabilitate faulty and old fibre optic cables and supporting infrastructure, including manholes, handholes, and site entries.
- Fault Resolution and Maintenance:
- Identify, resolve, and repair faults on fibre optic systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance on fibre infrastructure to prevent issues.
- Surveillance and Security:
- Execute route surveillance to secure fibre infrastructure and mitigate risks of exposure to damage.
- Conduct regular physical audits and patrols of both underground and overhead fibre infrastructure to ensure security.
- System Monitoring:
- Utilize OTDR to assess the health status of fibre cores and carry out regular sweeps of unused cores.
- Keep track of degraded fibre segments and schedule maintenance windows for improvements.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Formulate and maintain detailed system records of fibre core designs, updating any changes after each maintenance window.
- Provide concise and accurate reports on all maintenance and repair activities.
- Preventive Measures:
- Conduct preventive maintenance for sites and associated equipment.
- Ensure all attended sites are clearly labelled for future reference and ease of access.
- Field Level Maintenance:
- Carry out FLM works for all network issues and provide remote login to second-line support teams.
- Surveys and Connections:
- Conduct surveys for new connections and fibre terminations, restoring links within SLA parameters or less, depending on criticality.
Qualifications Required:
- Senior Certificate: Essential for application.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a similar role, demonstrating considerable expertise in fibre optic technologies.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional capability to deliver information to both technical and non-technical personnel effectively.
- Teamwork and Autonomy: Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Problem-Solving: Strong skills in diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational skills with a strong focus on accuracy and detail.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Certified as a Fibre Optic Specialist (FOA).
