Job Description:
West Coast Personnel is excited to announce an opening for the position of Junior Buyer based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. We are seeking a motivated individual who can coordinate supplier relationships, handle stock ordering and processing, and ensure project delivery within budget and set timelines.
Key Purpose:
The primary focus of this role is to manage and coordinate supplier relationships and oversee stock ordering and processing to meet project delivery goals within prescribed budgets and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Coordination:
- Sourcing Suppliers:
- Identify required stock items and their specifications.
- Identify new suppliers and obtain compliance documents, pricing schedules.
- Process new suppliers through registration, including credit applications.
- Maintaining Supplier Relationships:
- Provide feedback on supplier performance.
- Review and update pricing and contracting schedules quarterly.
- Engage with suppliers and give feedback on their performance.
- Supplier Pricing:
- Prepare and distribute supplier pricing surveys.
- Collect, collate, and evaluate supplier responses bi-annually.
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers.
- Communication and Documentation:
- Communicate pricing, payment terms, and discount structures to relevant parties.
- Address and resolve supplier queries promptly.
Stock Purchasing (Minor Works and Sales Rep Orders):
- Planning:
- Engage with Sales and Project Managers to determine stock requirements and delivery deadlines.
- Obtain pricing from approved suppliers for necessary quotations.
- Order Issuance:
- Capture and confirm purchase order details in the system.
- Ensure order values align with quotations.
- Communicate order details to relevant parties within deadlines.
- Communication:
- Regularly update the Sales and CSW Operations department on stock and service delivery progress.
- Reconciliation:
- Review open purchase orders monthly.
- Investigate supply statuses and implement corrective actions as needed.
Stock Take:
- Assist in monthly stock take.
- Select a sample of stock items and confirm quantities on hand.
- Report discrepancies to the Senior Buyer.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements:
- NQF 5 in supply chain, logistics, or a similar field.
- In the absence of relevant qualifications, significant experience in a similar role will be considered.
Experience:
- 2 to 4 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or a related field.
- Experience in the fire protection industry is preferable but not mandatory.
