Job description: Job Summary Responsibilities:
- Project Monitoring & Support: Monitor the progress and performance of project discipline teams, providing feedback and support, and managing design scope changes.
- Technical & Commercial Oversight: Provide direction on design quality, schedules, and budgets; review feasibility studies, tenders, and contractor documentation to ensure compliance and cost-effectiveness.
- Team & Resource Management: Set and review man-hour budgets, allocate work, assess staff suitability, and recommend additional manning as needed; drive professional development of team members.
- Reporting & Documentation: Ensure all project correspondence is recorded, produce progress reports, conduct design group meetings, and provide timely updates on project discussions and achievements.
Qualifications:
- B. Tech. / B.Eng. – Civil engineering
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA
Knowledge and experience:
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years civil infrastructure design experience in the mining and minerals industry, preferably worked withinan EPC/EPCM engineering environment.
- Detail engineering of roads, terracing, stormwater, ponds and network analysis of water and sewer pipelines.
- Detail engineering of non-process facilities (offices, change houses, temporary and permanent housing facilities, etc.).
- Site experience: construction.
- Technical Competence – in terms of core engineering theory from first principles and ability to extend theory to new andcomplex problems.
- Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of word, databases spreadsheets and discipline related application software.
- Understanding of South African and common International standards and regulatory authority requirements in the miningand minerals processing sector.
