Job description: Job SummaryJob Title: Financial Reporting SpecialistLocation: Cape TownSector: MiningOur client, a well-established Mining company, is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Reporting Specialist to join their team based in Cape Town. This role requires a candidate fluent in Afrikaans and willing to travel quarterly across Africa to support regional operations.Basic Duties:
- Prepare and deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and company policies.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Manage and oversee the consolidation of financial statements across regional entities.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits.
- Implement and maintain effective financial controls and reporting processes.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Travel quarterly to support regional operations and ensure reporting consistency.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualifications such as CA(SA), ACCA, or CIMA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial reporting, ideally in the Mining or related sectors.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial consolidation.
- Leverage a strong understanding of OHADA accounting practices.
- Provide support for Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance and coordinate with SOX-specific personnel.
- Proficiency in financial software systems and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Fluency in Afrikaans is essential.
- Willingness and ability to travel across Africa on a quarterly basis.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
