Job description: Job Summary Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services
- Identify and assess potential suppliers
- Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate contracts and pricing
- Maintain and update the supplier database
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure high-quality goods and services
- Assist in budget preparation and cost analysis for purchasing activities
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
- Ensure procurement activities are within budget constraints
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and regulations
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records and documentation
- Assist in preparing reports and presentations for management
- Work closely with other departments, such as operations, finance, and engineering, to understand procurement needs
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to align purchasing activities with project timelines and requirements
- Provide regular updates on procurement status and any issues or delays
- Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, new products, and suppliers
- Analyze market conditions to identify potential risks and opportunities in the supply chain
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of experience in buying, with a focus on mining equipment and materials
- Strong knowledge of the mining industry, including its equipment and materials requirements
- Proficiency in ERP software and tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- MS Excel reporting – advanced
