Purpose of the Role:
The Assistant Principal Academic role is central to achieving high-level scholar accomplishments and a thriving school environment at SPARK Rivonia High. You will manage, coach, and lead our school staff to foster a positive scholar and staff culture, operational efficiency, and community engagement, thus embodying and furthering SPARK Schools’ culture and dedication to rigorous and engaging learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:
- Define and assume responsibility for the progress and successful outcomes of the school against specified success indicators. Your leadership will inspire and guide the entire school towards continuous improvement and high standards.

Coaching & Professional Development:
- Cultivate and enhance the capabilities of school staff through relationship-building and consistent observation with actionable feedback. Your support will ensure that each educator achieves their performance objectives and professional goals.

Academic Achievement:
- Elevate scholar achievement by ensuring the rigorous implementation of our curriculum. Maintain clear and high expectations for excellence in both teaching and assessment in assigned content areas.

Scholar Support:
- Enhance academic excellence by supporting subject selection, progress tracking toward matriculation, and the development of exceptional scholar-focused projects. Your guidance will cultivate a learning environment that thrives on excellence.

- Consistently enforce behavior management policies to maintain and build a strong student culture. Develop necessary interventions and individualized behavior plans when required.

- Collaborate with the school principal and other SPARK business units, along with external vendors, to ensure seamless and efficient school operations. Your coordination will be crucial in maintaining operational excellence.

- Develop and execute strategies for positive family engagement through various channels such as community meetings, scholar performances, and volunteering opportunities. Building strong community ties will be a cornerstone of your role.

Candidate Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Fluency in English.
- A completed B.Ed or PGCE degree (Senior & FET).
- Familiarity with high school matric requirements, including Senior and FET phase CAPs curricula.
- Registration with SACE.
- A clean criminal record.
- A minimum of 3-4 years of excellent classroom instruction experience in intermediate, senior, or FET phase.
- Evidence of leadership roles in primary or high school settings.
