Job description: Job SummaryCommis Chef – 4-Star Hotel, Cape TownA new 4-star hotel in Cape Town is seeking a passionate and dedicated Commis Chef to join their dynamic kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring chef to gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes under the supervision of senior chefs.
- Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen, following health and safety regulations.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients to maintain food quality.
- Support chefs in plating and presentation to uphold the hotel’s standards.
- Follow recipes and kitchen guidelines while learning and improving culinary techniques.
- Assist in stock control, food portioning, and waste management.
Requirements:
- South African ID or valid work permit.
- A culinary qualification is preferred.
- A strong passion for cooking and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of kitchen hygiene and safety protocols.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
