We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor – Wind Turbine Technician to join our team for a short-term contract in the Western Cape. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of wind turbine systems, ensuring safety compliance, and leading a team in fault analysis and resolution. - Perform scheduled maintenance tasks on wind turbines, including inspections, lubrication, cleaning, and component replacement.
- Lead fault analyses and repairs of wind turbine generator systems, working both independently and with a team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical malfunctions.
- Carry out planned and preventive maintenance on wind turbine generator systems to ensure optimal operation.
- Document all service activities, including fault findings, repairs, and maintenance, in service reports, logbooks, and checklists.
- Replace malfunctioning or worn-out components, perform torquing, and greasing operations.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Supervise and guide a team of technicians, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to the highest standards.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- University degree or professional training in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (e.g., Electrician, Power Electronics System, Mechatronic Engineer).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in renewable energy, with wind energy experience preferred.
- Proficiency in MS-Office and basic computer operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and fault-finding expertise, with the ability to identify and correct faults, defects, and issues.
- Ability to work at heights and maintain a high level of physical fitness.
- A structured approach to work with excellent technical and analytical abilities.
- Valid health and safety certifications, including Working at Heights and Confined Spaces training.
Desired Characteristics and Training:
- Additional electrical/mechanical service or maintenance experience is a plus.
- GWO Working at Heights certification.
- SE D-Level Service training.
- SE C-Level Service training.
- GWO Manual Handling certification.
- SC Loto 2 and SC Loto 3 training.
- SE B-Level Service training.
