Job description: We are looking for an experienced Restaurant General Manager for our client, an upmarket niche restaurant in Tshwane. The General Manager (GM) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of this high-end restaurant with a team of 55 staff members. The GM ensures the seamless implementation of company policies, standards, and operating procedures while driving sales, maintaining gross profit margins, and ensuring exceptional customer service and end to end execution of the guest experience. This leadership role requires managing key operational, financial, and HR processes, ensuring optimal staffing, and leading strategic meetings. This position is open to all suitably qualified applicants.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Management– Implement, monitor, and audit all company standards and operating procedures.– Ensure consistent delivery of excellent food quality, service standards, and overall operational efficiency.– Track and analyze KPIs, implementing corrective actions where needed to achieve business targets.– Manage staff schedules to ensure optimal coverage during peak trading times.Financial Management– Monitor and control all financial controls, including daily cash-ups and financial reconciliations.– Ensure gross profit margins are consistent and align with company targets.– Manage casual wages, ensuring expenditure remains within budget.– Prepare and submit full payroll reports to the CEO, maintaining accurate records for all company payroll activities.Sales and Revenue Growth– Drive overall sales growth through strategic initiatives and exceptional service delivery.– Collaborate with department heads to create and execute plans for revenue optimization.Team Leadership and HR Management– Ensure all team members are motivated, engaged, and aligned with company values and goals.– Manage the recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of staff.– Oversee HR processes, including performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.Strategic Leadership– Chair and manage Management Committee (Manco) and Strategy Committee (Stratco) meetings.– Document meeting minutes, actions, and delivery deadlines, ensuring accountability for outcomes.Compliance and Audit– Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, including health and safety standards.– Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to company policies and operational standards.Guest Experience– Managing all pillars and teams to ensure an excellent guest experience– Motivating and driving teams on specific tasks and projects, based on data, in order to drive a consistent guest experienceKey Competencies– Leadership: Strong ability to lead, inspire, and manage a diverse team effectively.– Operational Excellence: Proven experience in implementing and maintaining high operational standards.– Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial processes, budgeting, and profitability.– Strategic Thinking: Capability to align daily operations with the broader company vision.– Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including documentation of strategic actions.– Customer Focus: Dedication to ensuring exceptional guest experiences.Qualifications and Experience– Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership role within the high-end hospitality industry.– Proven track record of managing teams of 50+ staff members, including department leaders.– Demonstrated ability to drive sales and achieve financial targets.– Strong understanding of HR and payroll management.– Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)– Achievement of sales growth and revenue targets.– Consistent gross profit margins aligned with company goals.– High customer satisfaction scores.– Adherence to budgets, including payroll and casual wage costs.– Timely completion of strategic actions and meeting deliverables.This role demands a results-driven, detail-oriented leader with a passion for excellence in hospitality and team development.
