Job description: Construction Manager / Site Manager Township Services / Civil ServicesPurpose of position:
The Construction Manager will be responsible for the management of the construction site to achieve the required project delivery to the client’s objectives while maintaining standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact, and cost controlKey Accountabilities:
- Site establishment and de-establishment in conjunction with tender planning. Liaise with all parties involved, from tender stages to handover (client, engineers, public and third parties).
- Manages and plans staff and plant requirements in conjunction with contract requirements.
- Conduct meetings with staff, material and plant suppliers regarding progress and production planning requirements.
- Monitor quality, work output and programme work accordingly.
- Monitor and manage operators and plant/diesel usage.
- Programme management: implement corrective action to get the programme back on track.
- Responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly cost monitoring.
- Responsible for monthly progress claims.
- Monitors & reports on contractual requirements.
- Reviews progress with contract team daily to resolve issues and plan work, attends planning, technical and progress meetings with client, engineers, public, suppliers, sub-contractors, own staff and senior management, government, and local authorities.
- Ensuring that HSQE Management Systems and processes are adhered to, implemented, and maintained.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents, drawings and construction documents.
- Knowledge of proper safety procedures & practice and recognition of hazards.
- Thorough understanding of production clusters and outputs.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- Qualification: N.Dip Civil / B.Tech Civil / B.Sc. Civil Engineering / related qualification
- ·Professional registration or candidacy with SACPCMP / ECSA will be advantageous.
- 10 years experience in civil works
- Ability to read and understand technical documents, drawings and construction documents.
- Knowledge of proper safety procedures & practice and recognition of hazards.
- Thorough understanding of production clusters and outputs.
Skills:
- Planning, scheduling (programming) and administration of sites/projects.
- ·Knowledge of different standard specifications and quality systems.
- ·Knowledge of CCS.
- ·Have excellent oral & written communication in English and interpersonal skills.
Expected salary: R70000 per year
