Job description: Project Accountant( 4 month fixed term contract)Market-related SalaryStellenbosch, Cape Town.About the RoleAn exciting opportunity has opened for a Project Officer – Accounts & Grant Management to join a leading environmental conservation organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial planning, grant management, and accounting oversight for various projects, ensuring compliance with program rules, policies, and regulations.Key Responsibilities
- Assist in budget establishment and monitoring for the office and sub-awarded partner grants.
- Manage quarterly and monthly financial planning and budget advance cycles.
- Conduct financial reviews to ensure compliance with policies and program regulations.
- Validate project report balances on a monthly basis.
- Monitor payments and financial reports for grant agreements.
- Prepare and consolidate financial reports and cash flow projections with supporting documentation.
- Oversee and monitor partner contracts to ensure compliance.
- Act as the main point of contact for program financial matters, including reviewing and uploading reports, conducting budget reviews, and verifying invoices before submission.
- Establish and maintain the Fixed Assets register.
- Support audit and compliance requests in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Finance or Accounting.
- Minimum five years of accounting experience.
- Experience with financial management and reporting in project-based environments.
- Knowledge of Oracle NetSuite is an advantage.
- Experience managing US government donor-funded or multi-partner project budgets would be beneficial.
