Job Description
The Department of the Premier, Western Cape Government, is seeking a competent individual to join our team as a Labour Relations Officer. This rewarding role involves handling all employee relations matters related to misconduct, grievances, and disputes, which includes conducting investigations, drafting submissions, and representing the employer at various fora.
Minimum Requirements
- An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Labour Relations, Human Resource Management, or Law.
- A minimum of 1-year experience in a relevant field.

Misconduct Matters:
- Handle all aspects of employee misconduct issues.

Grievance Matters:
- Address and resolve employee grievances.

Dispute Resolution:
- Manage disputes and represent the employer in dispute matters.

Investigations:
- Conduct thorough investigations into misconduct, grievances, and disputes.

Drafting Submissions and Representing the Employer:
- Draft necessary documents and submissions for mandates.
- Represent the employer in disciplinary hearings and various other fora.
- Advice and Support Services:
- Provide expert advice on misconduct and grievance matters.
- Offer support services related to labour relations.

Knowledge of Relevant Acts and Resolutions:
- Public Service Act
- Public Service Regulations
- Labour Relations Act
- National and Provincial Resolutions and legislation related to Human Resource Management
- Skills Needed:
- Proven computer literacy, particularly in MS Office suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective planning, organising, and execution capabilities.
- Proficiency in conflict resolution.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Remuneration
The position offers a remuneration package of R376,413 per annum (Salary Level 8). Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (such as medical assistance, housing assistance, and pension-fund contributions) will be funded or co-funded according to the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
