Job description: Job SummaryWe are looking to hire a hard-working and efficient Demi chef to assist the executive chef and assist with various kitchen duties. The restaurant is situated in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. Must have fine dining experience. The restaurant is not on the public transport route so own reliable transport is essential.Executive chefs depend on their demi chefs to be efficient and consistent. They are required to finish their work on time, without sacrificing quality. Demi chefs must also be creative; they need to be ready to improvise when ingredients and resources aren’t available.Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all dishes prepared in your section, you must be knowledgeable about the section you oversee as well as how a kitchen functions as a whole.
- Oversee line or station cooks within a production area – such as the potager, saucier, vegetable cook or pastry chef.
- Oversee all preparation, cooking and presentation for plates.
Requirements:
- Certification in culinary arts
- Proven commercial kitchen experience.
- Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
- The ability to stand for extended periods.
- The ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills.
