Job description: Residence Manager – PretoriaFull job descriptionResidence Manager, Embassy of Ireland, Pretoria at the Official Residence of the AmbassadorOur mission is to promote and protect abroad the values, interests and economic well-being of Ireland and its people. We do this under the political direction of our Ministers, through our staff at home and through our Embassy network abroad.The Embassy of Ireland, Pretoria is seeking to recruit a Residence Manager for the Official Residence of the Ambassador. This is a full time position, subject to a probationary period and will start as soon as possible on an initial three year contract, to join our team.Roles and Responsibilities:The precise range of duties will vary over time, but will include the following:EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF RESIDENCE· Anticipate maintenance, service continuity and health and safety issues, addressing them in a timely way when they arise· Overseeing the work of the contracted service providers at the official residence and signing off once completed.· Oversee procurement of household goods ensuring compliance to the Embassy procurement policies,· Supervising and training household staff and Issuing of weekly task list/house duties to the Residence Assistant,· Keep an inventory of all house equipment and report immediately to your line manager if any repairs in the house is needed,· Protecting and maintaining household equipment and adhering to health and safety standards,· Report immediately to your employer any activities on the premises that you feel are a security risk,EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF SERVICE PROVIDERS· Direct service providers for representational functions at the Official Residence, and, from time to time as required, at the Chancery;· Assisting with coordination and management of Mission external event managers/external caterers for specialised or larger-scale events as relevant;REPRESENTATION STANDARDS AND HOSPITALITY· Receive guests at the residence and ensuring that guests are received appropriately by offering them refreshments, etc.· Keep a clean and tidy appearance at all times by performing cleaning activities such as, mopping, sweeping, dusting, polishing and vacuuming· Assist with the day-to-day shopping and preparation of meals and refreshments, as required, for guests and provide back-up for the cook as required;· Washing, ironing and folding clothes.· Other duties as required from time to time and directed by the Ambassador and Deputy Head of Mission as necessary.Essential Requirements candidates must be able to demonstrate:5 years’ minimum experience working in hospitality, facilities management or related;Computer literacyMatric – high school education· Fluency in English· The highest levels of integrity and trust and strong discretion;Reliable and can work on own initiative;Attention to detail and proactive in addressing maintenance issues· Strong organisational and management skills; and· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Desirable:· Post matric certificateTerms and conditions of employment:The successful candidates will be hired on an initial fixed term contract;Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week, with standard office hours from 08h00 to 16h30;The salary for the position ZAR 10 948.43 per month and ZAR 142 329.59 per annum, paid locally on a monthly basis (pay scales are currently being reviewed– further information should be available by time of interview).Start date: 01st April 2024; A 6 month probationary period will apply, after which time performance will be reviewed;· Benefits: Medical Aid;The position will require regular out of hours work in the evening/at weekend and will be agreed in advance.· The successful candidate must have a legal entitlement to live and work in South Africa prior to recruitment.How to applyThe Job Description for this position is available on our websitehttps://www.dfa.ie/irish-embassy/south-africa/Applications by C.V. should be sent via e-mail only towith the subject line Residence Manager;Applications must be received before 16h30 on 3rd March 2024Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted: should you not hear from us within 30 days, please consider your application unsuccessful.
