Job description: Job SummaryOur client is looking for a Junior Shopper and Category Manager to enhance the competitiveness and profitability of product categories. The successful candidate will provide insights and recommendations to support shopper-centric category strategies that drive sustainable growth.Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret key account and channel-level data from retailer systems and market data sources (e.g., Circana, QlikView, Smart Shopper).
- Track customer performance against KPIs, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Contribute to Innovation/New Product Development by analyzing market data to support compelling selling arguments.
- Provide regular performance updates and insights to drive category growth through structured reporting forums.
- Offer analytical support for category plans and range reviews across various retailers.
- Identify retailer performance gaps and opportunities through data analysis.
- Utilize insights from data analysis to influence product range, distribution breadth, and depth.
- Apply category management principles to impact range, space, and merchandising strategies.
- Collaborate with brand and sales teams to drive category recommendations with key customers.
- Work towards achieving targets related to share of space, sales, planogram development, and distribution.
- Support the development and implementation of category plans with key customers.
- Lead category projects and initiatives within key accounts.
- Work with Customer Marketing to develop ease-of-shop planograms, POS, and in-store initiatives.
Key Skills
- Strong understanding of Retail/FMCG dynamics.
- Proficiency in data analysis, interpretation, and management.
- Ability to present data-driven insights clearly to diverse audiences.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong knowledge of competitor, key account, and market trends.
- Excellent analytical and numeracy skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated with a proactive mindset.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an analytical role, preferably in FMCG.
- Proficiency in external market data software, with preference for candidates experienced in Circana (Iri)/Nielsen.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

- BCom Degree or relevant tertiary qualification.
