Job description: Inventory Controller/Fleet Manager – Cape TownFull job descriptionAn exciting position exists at a leading site services/construction company based in Cape Town for a dynamic Inventory Controller (Storeman) who also will act as Fleet Manager.The suitable person takes direct responsibility for the Stores (stock, materials, plant equipment, machinery and tools). This includes ensuring stock is not damaged and everything ordered is taken into inventory. The successful applicant will also be responsible for the return of faulty goods and products and maintenance of existing equipment.The job incorporates the daily management and maintenance of the company fleet.Note:Only applicants residing in Cape Town or surrounding who are available to start immediately or shortly should apply.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – INVENTORY CONTROLLER (STOREMAN):Ensure the warehouse/stores operates at peak efficiency by supervising, organising, directing and monitoring all operational activity related to the Stores.Manage, control and oversee the daily issuing and return of stock, materials, plant and equipment to technicians.Develop and maintain effective warehouse/stores operations systems including product handling, storage requirements, equipment utilisation, maintenance and inventory management.Solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals.Oversee daily operations, while controlling and managing inventory and logistics.Review and prepare workflow, manning and space requirements, inventory layout, and action plans while ensuring productivity, quality and ensure customer service standards are met.Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.Supervise daily activities of the warehouse, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, dispatch, and customer service.Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance as needed.Develop actionable plans for productivity and loss prevention.Oversee and manage logistics for transport of products to sites and customers.Keep and maintain all relevant inventory registers.Ensure that all relevant daily/weekly/monthly reports are actioned.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS FLEET MANAGER:Ensure that all vehicles are serviced timeously to ensure warranties remains valid.Ensure that damaged vehicles are repaired timeously by following the correct accident procedure and liasing with insurers and with the correct panel shops to minimise cost and vehicle down-time.Maintain fleet size upon fleeting and de-fleeting to ensure optimal balance of fleet numbers and to manage vehicle costs.Ensure regular quality inspections on all vehicles to ensure license disk, roadworthiness, emergency equipment, accident/damage free (including decal’s), etc.Arrange for tracker units to be installed to new vehicles. Check regularly on website that the tracker system is working and monitor the system for unauthorized trips and/or fleet misuse/abuse.Ensure that fuel slips are returned and fleet log-books are maintained.Monitor service intervals of all vehicles and action accordingly.Ensure vehicles are inspected when returned from panel shop or service centre, and service details are updated in the service booklet.Ensure expired license discs are timeously renewed.Proactively provide insights on the overall state of the fleet for management insight and action.Ensure that all relevant daily/weekly/monthly reports are actioned.SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:3+ years’ experience in a warehouse/inventory lead role/managerial capacity.Proficient knowledge of warehouse, stores and inventory procedures and policies.Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities.Ability to work with all levels of company staff.Comfortable to compile and deliver frequent written and oral feedback.Relevant NQF level 3 qualification.Valid driver’s licence.Experience in fleet management.This job requires that the employee maintains the highest level of honesty and integrity as he/she will have access to company assets.Job Type: Full-timePay: R13 000 – R16 500 per monthAbility to Commute:Cape Town, Western Cape (Preferred)
