Job description: Job Summary A leading retail store seeks a meticulous and proactive Financial Accountant to oversee and manage its financial operations. This role involves ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and stock management.This role is based in Birdhaven, Johannesburg North.Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Oversee the general ledger, classify financial transactions, and reconcile accounts.
- Perform daily financial duties, including payment processing and ad hoc tasks.
- Prepare management accounts, financial statements, and conduct month-end/year-end closings.
- Capture and reconcile bank statements, accounts receivable, and payable.
- Monitor financial performance, analyse KPIs, and provide actionable insights.
- Support budget preparation, forecasts, and financial projections.
- Collaborate with internal teams to enhance financial processes and ensure efficiency.
- Assist with audits, regulatory compliance, and stay updated on accounting standards and tax laws.
- Identify and implement process improvements and enhance internal controls, especially in stock management.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Completed SAICA/SAIPA articles.
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally in the retail sector.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax laws, and regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
- Experience in retail, stock management, and stock costing is essential.
