Job description: Job Summary Our client in the Engineering Industry is looking to hire an Electrical Engineer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Design
- Perform concept design, calculations, and architecture of new electrical and electronic
designs
- Evaluate and setup power budgets for full vehicle systems
- Prepare Solid Models of components; sub-assemblies and assemblies, using the
business file structure guidelines, number protocol and design standards
- Prepare concept layouts of design concepts, using own design initiative and
incorporating the inputs of the team
- Prepare detail layout and manufacturing drawings of components and assemblies
- Responsible for drawing sign-off according to drawing standards
- Stay up to date with industry advancements and technologies
- Responsible for the technical integrity of the allocated design, including the integration
on system level
Development
- Follow the development process and procedures ensuring that reviews and procedures
are completed
- Assist during the building and testing of prototypes, ensuring that closed loop feedback is
taking place during the design process
- Communicate with manufacturing and sub-contractors, to ensure the flow of information
during prototyping and production
Test and Evaluation
- Communicate and incorporate inputs from the test and analysis parties during the design
process
- Include the test and analysis parties to perform tests and analysis to complete the design
cycle
- Plan, schedule and execute of tests as required on allocated sub-system
Project Management
- Ensure that projects are executed according to the time, mass, and budget targets
- Represent the business at design reviews
- Attend design reviews with internal and external clients
- Management of systems throughout the acquisitioning phase
- Manage a design group, within a program
- Organise MRB, to ensure decision making takes place swiftly
- To take up the responsibilities of system integrator on large programs in support of Chief
design
Support
- Production support, capturing of red-line drawings during the building and prototype
phase
- Assist ILS with repair, maintenance and additional information required
- Support the procurement department during supplier evaluation and during the
procurement cycle
- Responsible for the allocated design from concept phase up to sign-off
- Ensuring components are procured and quality assessed during the acquisition phase
- Ensure suppliers confirm to all requirements, as set out in project specifications
Requirements
Software
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering in a design and development role
- Previous experience in the military vehicle design environment will be advantageous
- Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, electrical systems, and components
- Proficient in electrical design software or relevant Onshape and SW Package
Software Capability
- Proficient in electrical design software or relevant Onshape and SW Package

- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team
members and stakeholders
