Job description: Job Summary Key Responsibilities:
- Policy Development and Compliance:
- Develop, review, and update safety policies and procedures to align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation and standards, including OSHA and ISO safety standards.
- Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and hazard analyses across various operational areas.
- Identify potential safety risks, propose engineering controls, and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Safety Audits and Inspections:
- Perform regular safety audits, inspections, and evaluations of facilities, equipment, and processes.
- Document findings and collaborate with management to address deficiencies and prevent future occurrences.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting:
- Lead investigations of workplace incidents to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records of incidents, corrective actions, and safety metrics.
- Safety Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver training programs for employees on safety protocols, emergency response, and equipment use.
- Promote safety awareness through workshops, toolbox talks, and hands-on training sessions.
- Continuous Improvement and Project Management:
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety practices and mitigate risk.
- Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving overall workplace safety and environmental impact.
- Emergency Preparedness and Response:
- Develop and coordinate emergency response plans, including fire safety, evacuation procedures, and first aid protocols.
- Conduct regular drills and ensure preparedness for potential safety incidents.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety engineering or similar role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, including OSHA, ISO 45001, and local health and safety legislation.
- Certification in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing is advantageous.
- Proficiency in risk assessment and hazard analysis methodologies.
- Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs.
- Proficiency in MS Office, with strong skills in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
