Job description: Job SummaryJob title: Facilitator for a 7-year-old boy in Greenpoint area.We are seeking a facilitator for a 7-year-old boy who loves animals, swimming, spending time outdoors, reading, and drawing. The ideal candidate should be passionate about working with children, with a particular enthusiasm for teaching or tutoring maths. They should enjoy problem-solving and excel at discovering unique, creative ways to teach and guide various concepts. Being a team player who thrives on collaboration is essential for this role.Main Purpose of the job:To be a “helping hand” to an individual with unique and specific support needs, giving him the necessary guidance and support to thrive. A special interest and passion to be a secure, long term and consistent source of support is of the utmost importance.The candidate will be trained by the NDC Facilitation Academy and thereafter receive personalised support from a registered counsellor for up to 6 weeks, working in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team.Job Objectives:· Build a trusting relationship with the learner.· Attending school with him to provide support and scaffolding within his immediate school environment.· Acting as a bridge of communication between the teacher, learner, and parents.· Assisting with breaking down tasks and chunking information as and when needed, and implementing movement/sensory breaks throughout the day when needed.· Facilitate his understanding and academic learning in social, structured, and unstructured domains, when needed.· Support and encourage him to develop on his executive functioning around planning, organising, problem-solving, asking for help, etc.· Support and scaffolding to help lessen any uncertainties and possible anxiety that may be experienced. (Pre-empting any possible triggers)· Creating and designing visual resources if and when needed.RequirementsGeneral Requirements:Fluent in English – Essential.Driver’s license and own reliable car – Essential.Job Related work experience.Previous experience in a schooling environment/facilitating role – Desirable.Previous experience working with ADHD children – Essential.Previous experience tutoring ADHD children – Essential.Job Related Knowledge:Familiarity and knowledge of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) – Essential.Strong tutoring skills in Mathematics – Essential.Job Related Skills:Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills – Essential.Strong tutoring skills – Essential.Strong written skills – Essential.Strong executive functioning skills – Essential.Social and life skills – Essential.Relationship building skills – Essential.Working hours:Monday – Friday: 08:00 – 14:00.Salary range: R8 000 – R10 000Ideal starting date: 15th January 2025BenefitsBenefits:Support and training from a multi-disciplinary team knowledgeable in the field of Neurodiversity.
