Job description: Our client in the Engineering industry is currently looking for a Design Mechanical Engineer/Technologist, in Cape Town, Western Cape.Responsibilities:
- Developing 2D/3D Models: Use CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA) to create detailed models and drawings of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Prototyping & Conceptual Design: Assist in the design of prototypes and provide input on material selection, manufacturability, and functional specifications.
- Modifying Designs: Adjust existing designs to meet specific project requirements or to incorporate design changes.
- Testing Mechanical Systems: Perform tests on mechanical systems, record data, and analyse performance to ensure they meet design specifications and industry standards.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that parts and assemblies conform to design specifications and quality standards.
- Overseeing Manufacturing Processes: Help ensure designs are feasible for manufacturing and collaborate with production teams to optimize processes.
- Tooling & Equipment Design: Design and specify jigs, fixtures, or tools needed for the manufacturing and assembly of components.
- Material Sourcing: Assist in selecting and sourcing materials based on strength, cost, and other requirements.
- Supports engineers and technologists in the design, development, testing, and manufacturing of mechanical systems and components.
Requirements:
- BSc/BEng/BTech Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Junior Design Engineer, 1 – 3 years’ experience.
- + 1 year Revit 3D modelling experience.
- Managing projects.
- Attending site meetings, site inspections, liaising with professional team.
- Good communication skills.
Remuneration:
- R25 000 – R30 000 per month.
Expected salary: R25000 – 30000 per month
