Job description: Health Safety SHE Officer – PretoriaSalary: R35K Per Month 12 Month ContractPurpose of Position:Complement Recruitment are recruiting for Health and Safety Officer for a 12 month contract based in Pretoria, Tshwane, Gauteng.As the Health and Safety Officer, you will play a vital role in promoting Safety and Health within theorganisation.Your responsibilities will include implementing and maintaining all aspects of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and Regulations, ensuring compliance with Environmental regulations and other relevant legal requirements. Your main goal will be to minimize risks, maintain regulatory compliance, and improve the overall safety and environmental standards of the workplaceApply Directly for this Job by clicking here –Minimum Requirements Qualifications And SkillsQualifications:ü Grade 12ü SAMTRAC or a similar health and safety qualificationü Valid drivers” license and reliable transportExperience:ü 3 to 5 years SHE experience in a related industry (chemical manufacturing / food manufacturing)Other:ü Sound knowledge of applicable legislation (OHS Act, COID Act, etc.)ü Working knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Management systems(eg. ISO 45001:2018)ü Ability to plan, organise, co-ordinate and facilitateü MS Office proficiency (Word and Excel)KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate risk assessments to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks.
- Conduct regular inspections and compile comprehensive reports on Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) matters.
- Ensure the implementation of corrective actions for identified risks and audit findings.
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and ensure the implementation of corrective and/or preventive actions.
- Coordinate Health and Safety training for all employees
- Update all legal appointment letters and SHE policies to ensure compliance.
- Assist with the submission of Injury on Duty (IOD) claims.
- Compile monthly SHE reports
- Perform job observations on high-risk activities and provide constructive feedback.
- Prepare and conduct toolbox talks to educate and inform staff.
- Ensure that all contractors and suppliers adhere to the organization”s SHE policies and procedures.
- Conduct induction for all employees, visitors and contractors
- Coordinate and assist with emergency response and fire drills
- Draft SHE procedures and submit it to management for review and approval
- Coordinate the monthly safety meeting:
- Schedule meeting times.
- Distribute agendas and supporting documentation in advance.
- Record and circulate meeting minutes.
- Audit safety files and issue permits to work to contractors.
- Ensure compliance with waste management procedures and coordinate waste removal from the site.
- Maintain and update first aid boxes and ensure fire equipment inspections and maintenance are up to date.
- Manage companys permit system (hot work and confined spaces)
- Maintain SHE electronic document system
