Our client in Cape Town is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper to join their esteemed legal practice. The ideal candidate will possess a Matric certificate and a Diploma in Bookkeeping or Financial Accounting, along with a robust 15 years of experience in a similar role within the legal profession. Proficiency in Excel and AJS Web is essential, as is extensive experience with trust and business accounts, with familiarity in ABSA and Investec Banking considered advantageous. Additionally, candidates should be skilled in SAGE VIP Payroll and adept at handling SARS E-filing for PAYE/UIF/SDL and VAT returns. - Matric, Certificate/Diploma in Bookkeeping or Financial Accounting is essential
- 15 years’ experience in a similar role within the legal profession
- Must be proficient on excel and the financial accounting package AJS Web.
- MUST HAVE TRUST AND BUSINESS ACCOUNT EXPERIENCE (experience with ABSA and Investec
would be beneficial). * SAGE VIP Payroll.
- SARS E-filing – PAYE/UIF/SDL & VAT returns
DUTIES:
- Preparation of EFT payments/transfers between accounts and loading thereof onto system for approval
- Reconciling petty cash, General Ledger Accounting up until Trial Balance, Debtors and Creditors function
- Maintaining Fixed Asset Register, Filing and date stamping of all purchases, receipts, and mail correspondence of all accounting related matters
- Preparing designated schedules
- Monthly recon schedule of interest from Investec Bank
- Posting – Investec – Interest to Call Accounts
- Reconcile bank statements – Trust and Business Accounts
- Daily cash flow
- Trust/Business receipts
- Daily Trust to Business Transfers
- Printing receipts and preparing documents
- Daily banking
- Petty cash and petty cash reconciliation – write up & reimbursement
- Company Drivers Travel Claims (copies made of each slip – to attorneys dealing with the matter)
- Prepare creditors invoices for month end
- Daily and monthly filing – audit trails to be filed
- Capturing Investec bank interest
- Capturing Sheriff’s return service
- Filing of AJS postings, audit trails and returned cheques
- Liaising with ABSA regarding bank queries for directors
- Assisting Auditors with queries
- Opening new Investec Call accounts
- Opening accounts
- Payments of all accounts
- Bank Statement queries
- Month End Procedure
- Ad-hoc duties as required
HOURS:
- Monday to Friday: 08:30 – 16:30
