My client is a well-established company in the mechanical engineering industry, specializing in mining equipment solutions. Renowned for their commitment to precision, innovation, and reliability, they provide top-tier engineering and financial operations to support their growing business. To strengthen their finance team, they are seeking a Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator to manage financial records and payroll processing with accuracy and efficiency.The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate bookkeeping, seamless payroll operations, and compliance with financial regulations while contributing to the company’s continued growth.Key Responsibilities:Bookkeeping & Financial Administration:
- Maintain financial records, including debtors, creditors, petty cash, and bank reconciliations in Pastel.
- Generate invoices and process payments, ensuring accurate allocation to the general ledger, supplier accounts, and debtors accounts.
- Prepare monthly trial balance, income statements, and VAT reconciliations.
- Assist with budgeting and financial reporting, providing insights for strategic decision-making.
- Compile and submit financial data for BBBEE verification agencies and auditors.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
Payroll Management:
- Process payroll accurately using payroll software (mandatory requirement).
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, UIF, and other statutory payroll deductions.
- Maintain employee payroll records and resolve payroll queries efficiently.
- Generate payroll reports for management and audit purposes.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Prepare and submit statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, UIF, etc.) within required deadlines.
- Assist in financial audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Support management with financial analysis and cost reporting.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: National Diploma in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Degree is an advantage).
- Experience: 5-6 years of experience in bookkeeping and payroll administration.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Pastel Accounting (Sage 50).
- Experience with payroll software (mandatory).
- Exposure to ERP systems such as QuickEasy (advantageous).
- Strong Excel skills for financial reporting and reconciliations.
Soft Skills:
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
