We aim to foster a work environment that is professional, and results focused, while retaining a family feel.We aim to attract ethical, professional, enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible, results-focused, open to learning, and technology- and best-practices-embracing people who will make a difference and add value.The successful candidate will report to the Quality Assurance Manager within the Quality Department, Operations responsible for 1 direct report.The position is responsible for assessing the quality of fruit at intake and identifying the correct market for offset.Key Performance areas:Quality control of products received from farms and the feedback to farms on quality received.Monitoring of quality received, decision making on storability and/ or marketing.Monitoring of the product in CA conditions.Administration, maintenance, and accurate record-keeping of product quality and compliance data.Control of daily procedures and processes critical to product quality and safety.Farm & Field visits to Producers, creating alignment on quality. (In conjunction with the technical team)Manage MRL (maximum residual limits) sampling & accuracy of Spray records.Compiling daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal reports on quality and quality-related informationPresenting reports to Management and Procedures as per meeting schedule.Communicate with Producers regarding Special markets and other special instructions.Manage the process of Special markets and allocation thereof.Responsible for QC personnel’s compliance documents.Management of QC staffTraining and skills development in the QA departmentAssist with Trials in the Quality Department.Role Requirements:Grade 12 with mathematics as a minimum.A Minimum tertiary QA qualification or a Horticultural qualification. (NQF 6)Minimum of 4 years prior experience in a similar role within fruit / fresh produce.Knowledge and experience of pome fruit and/or berries are critical to the role.Sound Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Vitrax knowledge will be advantageous.Driver’s licence and own TransportKey competencies:Must be able to work independently.Detail-oriented and analytical by nature.Action orientatedStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsExcellent planning and organisational skillsAble to handle high levels of stress within a demanding work environmentGood Interpersonal skillsGood written and verbal communication skills.Good leadership and managerial skillsGood reporting skillsJob Types: Full-time, PermanentPay: From R35 000,00 per monthAbility to commute/relocate:Grabouw, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)Education:Diploma (Preferred)Experience:quality control in the fruit industry: 4 years (Preferred)berries and pome fruit: 3 years (Preferred)License/Certification:driver’s lisence (Required)
