Job Summary
Main Purpose of The Job
Fempower Personnel is looking for a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Manager: Agricultural Banking & Monitoring Support (Region). The main responsibility of this position is to manage our regional Agricultural Banking & Monitoring Support function. This includes providing agricultural expertise to our Banking and Risk Management Divisions as well as working collaboratively with other stakeholders. The ultimate goal is to contribute to the quality of the loan book and effectively mitigate potential risks on behalf of the Bank.
Key Responsibilities

Team Management and Support:
- Guide and support the regional Agricultural Specialist team with timely and quality expert inputs during the assessment and due diligence of transactions from start to finish.
- Address production and market fundamentals, enterprise economics, and risk management concerns.

Standards and Tools Administration:
- Ensure adherence to set agricultural norms and standards.
- Implement the efficient use of specialized agricultural assessment tools (like BF90, cash flow models) to support the Bank’s credit assessment process.

Strategic Management:
- Formulate and lead a team of Agricultural Specialists to create an effective regional Agricultural Banking & Monitoring Support function, leveraging industry expertise.
- Engage in high-value transactions and provide guidance to your team.
- Integrate innovation into daily tasks to enhance development farmer transactions.

Agricultural Banking:
- Oversee and review the agricultural pre-screening and due diligence processes carried out by the Agricultural Specialist team for credit transactions.
- Promote continuous improvements to enhance efficiency in processing agricultural input across evaluations.
- Maintain effective turnaround times according to service level agreements with Banking teams.

Collections, Workout & Restructuring:
- Manage the agricultural advisory and support functions provided by Agricultural Specialists to the Collections and Workout & Restructuring teams.
- Lead farm inspections and the due diligence process for distressed accounts.
- Monitor turnaround times in alignment with service level agreements with Collections, Workout & Restructuring teams.

General Oversight:
- Develop clear tracking and realignment methodologies for business interventions.
- Analyze business trends and create strategies to correct deviations when needed.

Agricultural Assessment & Transaction Execution:
- Contribute to the creation of frameworks, policies, and templates for effective credit application assessments.
- Play an advisory role in the monitoring and evaluation post-investment of supported transactions, working closely with the Risk Management division.
- Provide expertise on primary and secondary agriculture to maximize the Agri value chains for growth and development.

Stakeholder Relationship Management:
- Engage with national, regional, and international counterparts in relevant forums to stay informed and contribute to the latest sector trends and practices.
- Facilitate seamless interactions between specialist teams and clients, collaborating with Banking and Risk Management teams to formulate sustainable developmental solutions.
- Budget and People Management:
- Performance Management: Analyze business plans to determine relevant deliverables and targets, compile performance documentation, conduct planning sessions, and monitor outcomes.
- Capacity Planning: Assess human capital needs based on deliverables and current capacity, ensure achievement of employment equity targets, and minimize staff turnover.
- Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets, ensure adherence to financial guidelines, and prevent fruitless expenditure.
Preferred Minimum Education and Experience

Education:
- Honours Degree in Agricultural Economics or a related field.
- Experience:
- Extensive agricultural sector experience covering research, project assessments, enterprise viability evaluations, risk assessment, and industry economics (8 years).
- Expertise in agriculture value chains, agricultural credit and finance management, and people and budget management (8 years).
Critical Competencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Advanced understanding of risk management principles.
- Familiarity with compliance systems and tools.
- Knowledge of compliance management and related legislation.
- Understanding of business and law principles, business operations, management, budgeting, and office operations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis.
- Strong customer service orientation.
