Durban North, Durban – KwaZulu NatalACCOUNTANTJob summary: The accountant is responsible for managing financial records, preparing and analysing financial reports, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. This role involves calculate and monitor cost of manufacturing (using BOM), calculating selling price, preparing tax returns, reviewing work performed by others, and supporting the organisations budgeting and financial planning activities.Job description1. Calculate the costs of manufacturing products, including direct materials, direct labor, and manufacturing overhead.2. Manage inventory accounts, including raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods.3. Assist in preparing financial budgets and forecasts for the manufacturing process, including projecting production costs and sales.4. Analyse variances between actual and standard costs and investigate reasons for these differences.5. Provide sales team with product pricing.6. Prepare and present financial reports related to manufacturing operations, such as production cost reports, inventory reports, and profitability analyses7. Ensure adherence to financial regulations and accounting standards relevant to manufacturing, e.g. International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)n for SMEs.8. Prepare and analyse statement of financial position, statement of profit or loss, statement of cash flows, and notes to the annual financial statements.9. Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure prompt payment and collection.10. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.11. Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts12. Monitor budget performance and analyze variances between actual and budgeted figures.13. Ensure compliance with tax laws, filing deadlines, and regulatory standards14. Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and sub-ledger accounts.15. Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures.16. Analyse financial data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for improvement17. Provide management with recommendations based on financial analysis.Qualification and skillsBachelors degree in accounting or equivalent.SAIPA or SAICA training experience.Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. SYSPRO) and Microsoft Excel.Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.Strong organisational and time management abilities.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Preferred Experience:2-5 years of experience in financial accounting or a related role.Experience with financial reporting, cost accounting and analysis.Familiarity with auditing processes and tax regulations.Please apply should you meet the requirements fullyif you do not hear from us within 14 days, kindly accept your application as unsuccessfulApply for this Job
